This tour is ideal for those wanting to experience the best of North Sumatra. Sumatra as the largest island entirely in Indonesia, is vast, beautiful and diverse. This 10 day tour encompasses some of the best that North Sumatra has to offer. Lush tropical rainforest, brooding volcanoes, the highest waterfall in Indonesia and the largest volcano lake in the world should not be missed on a trip to Sumatra or Indonesia. This awe inspiring back drop is dominated by the Batak culture, which in itself diversifies into 6 distinct cultures. On this tour you can fully immerse yourselves in these unique cultures through their music, dance, architecture and food whilst experiencing some of the most amazing scenery in the world.

After pick up from Medan, the capital of Sumatra, journey to Bukit Lawang where you can encounter a host of wildlife indigenous to Gunung Leuser National Park, such as the Sumatran orangutan, Sumatran elephant, gibbons, thomas leaf monkeys, hornbills and a myriad of other species. Trek and camp overnight in the jungle before journeying to Berastagi volcanoes where you can hike to the summit of Sibayak volcano and take in stunning views of the surrounding countryside. On the journey to Lake Toba stop off at the traditional Batak Karo village of Lingga and feel the spray of Spiso Piso, the highest waterfall in Indonesia. The final destination is Lake Toba, where you can immerse yourself in the fascinating Batak Toba culture and awesome views of the Lake. The perfect place to kick back and relax at the end of the tour.

We run this tour as a fixed date, group tour, but we can also organise it as a private tour upon request.
