For those on a tight schedule join us for an expedition highlighting the main attractions Gunung Leuser National Park.
A 3 day, 2 night exclusive tour to Bukit Lawang and Tangkahan.
This 3 day tour is perfect for those short of time or looking for a long weekend break. This tour takes in some of the highlights of Gunung Leuser National Park. Combine a chance of seeing some semi wild orangutans in their natural habitat with a visit to Tangkahan to see some Sumatran elephants.
ITINERARY :
• Day One
Pickup from Medan, Kuala Namu airport or Medan guesthouse by private transportation and journey 3-4 hours direct to Bukit Lawang.
Depending upon arrival time explore the village or relax at the guesthouse for the remainder of the day/evening.
• Day Two
Set off early with the guide to trek around the old feeding platform area. Try and spot some semi wild orangutans foraging in their natural habitat as well as other wildlife such as gibbons and thomas leaf monkeys. The guide will teach you about the flora and fauna of the National Park (1-2 hour trek).
Return to the guesthouse briefly before journeying 2 hours to Tangkahan.
Check into guesthouse accommodation before taking a swim in the river and hot springs close by.
• Day Three
In the morning help out with giving the elephants their morning wash in the river.
Journey 4-5 hours back to Medan central or Medan airport when required
N.B: It is not possible to visit the elephant centre on Fridays. The itinerary may need to be altered to work around this. Other activities can be arranged in Tangkahan, such as, trekking, caving and river tubing.
